The history of the Algard family can be traced back to the 16th century AD. At the top of the coat of arms is a knight with a golden spear, whose armor speaks to his status as a central European aristocrat hundreds of years ago. On the coat of arms, the brick red background signifies the property owned by the family and also shows the seat of the nobles who own the castle.

The meaning of the name Ekad itself can be traced back to the German meaning of tripe. “Eck” means “sword” and “hardt” means mighty. This means that the family used to be strong and loyal warriors. As a result, the Habsburg family in Austria-Hungary received shields and titles.

Mr. Algard stated:

The surname Igard comes from my mother, who spent her childhood in Bad Durkheim, Germany, and witnessed the success of the Igard piano brand during World War II, which has won awards in Paris and Luxembourg , and is known for its natural sound quality and high-quality materials. She was also forced to see the factory burnt down after Allied bombers attacked Germany.

After the war, she went to Mainz, Germany, and entered the medical field, where she met my father. My mother was the last of the Iqad family, so I hoped I would carry the name. However, in registering my name with the birth certificate, a mistake was made. The register didn’t put a “T” at the end of my name. Therefore, the brand logo Eckhardt Kaffee Art shows a small-scale T, which symbolizes the unity of my name and family history.

Ikade’s original intention

It was meant to be for me to contribute to the family history by keeping the name alive. Since I don’t have children of my own, I decided to brand myself. It will survive my life and will continue to grow for much longer to come. My decision to start with the coffee beans of my choice stems from my passion for coffee. I love coffee rather than seeing it as a “recharge” drink or energy booster because it’s healthy and allows friends and business people to enjoy coffee together.

Pioneers of the coffee process revolution

In 1986, I had patented the use of coffee in a filter bag to make it easier to carry it on the go; in the meantime, capsule coffee has replaced the concept, but my passion for coffee has only grown since then. I am a firm believer that coffee should be accessible to everyone. There is no need for a barista, or even high levels of milk, which make coffee making complicated and expensive. German coffee is known for its simplicity: a process that takes no time. Wake up in the morning, go to the kitchen half asleep, put 3-4 scoops of ground coffee in your simple coffee machine, and go to the shower. When you come back, the coffee is ready and the room smells of freshly brewed coffee. If you want to add sugar or milk to your coffee, you can do whatever you want, most Germans prefer plain coffee with less sugar.

german coffee

There is a German proverb that says, “If the boss needs a new secretary, she will only get the job if she can make a delicious cup of coffee.” There is no official certification, but this is the case. Statistics confirm that coffee is the number one hot beverage in Germany. An adult may drink 2 liters of hot coffee per day. I personally even like to have a cup of coffee before bed. This may sound surprising, however, scientists have shown that you may even have a more restful sleep if you go to bed within 15 minutes of drinking your coffee. It stimulates muscle relaxation and improves blood flow to the brain.

In fact, German coffee art is very similar to Chinese tea art. Almost all homes, many offices and meeting rooms have a coffee machine that is always on to keep the temperature and taste of the coffee, and anyone who has a cup of coffee will indulge in it.

Over the past few years, especially in the early days of Covid-19, I developed the concept of offering contactless coffee to the public just like existing coffee shops. So there is our current robotic coffee maker. It combines with online services well known to the Chinese public to improve food safety. In addition to the cleaning process without human contact, the robot also provides different flavors of coffee with guaranteed quality. The process is controlled by intelligent software and maintenance costs are relatively low.

China market analysis shows that coffee is clearly growing in popularity in China. I remember when I first came to Ningbo, coffee was only available in a few places and the price was as high as 85 RMB per cup, which was 20 years ago. At the same time, it is becoming more and more popular and affordable, and more people can enjoy it. So my philosophy is that everyone drinks coffee, but not everyone. Of course, I don’t want to break the history of China’s century-old tea culture. As the old saying goes: it’s a culture that needs to be protected in one way or another.

Coffee is an alternative and should be more than just a fad. Coffee can be a new experience, enriching your lifestyle by finding new friends and sharing stories, by sitting down and drinking a fresh, better Eckhardt Kaffee Art branded coffee. Over the long term, I’ve seen coffee lovers drink coffee on the coffee table, almost the same way they used to drink tea. This really doesn’t require much change, just a change of style. I will work on this in my future time.

I feel fortunate that with this assignment, my family history lives on and I share my passion for coffee with passion. Eckhardt Kaffee Art blend beans specially selected for you.
